In Minnesota, second-degree manslaughter applies when authorities allege a person causes someone’s death by “culpable negligence whereby the person creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another.”

Someone convicted of this charge would face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $20,000.

During a routine traffic stop on Sunday, Kim Potter claims she accidentally pulled her service weapon and shot Daunte Wright as he tried to jump back in his vehicle and leave.

The 26-year veteran of the force says she thought it was her Taser.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters captionedwith her social media post.

How could a trained officer make a mistake shooting an unarmed man with a gun instead of a taser? Hard to believe.
