Lewis Hamilton wins Portuguese GP to break Michael Schumacher

 Lewis Hamilton has made Formula One history by winning the Portuguese Grand Prix and breaking Michael Schumacher’s record of Formula One victories after securing his 92nd career win.

The world champion,35, finished nearly 25.6 seconds ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas and 34.5 clear of Red Bull's Max Verstappen for his eighth win of another dominant season on Sunday, October 25. 

The victory also moved him 77 points clear of Bottas with 5 races to go and just 130 points left to play for.

"It is going to take some time to fully sink in. I cannot find the words at the moment," said Hamilton, who shared an embrace with his father Anthony after the race.

 

"My dad is here, which is amazing, and my step-mum Linda too and my dog Roscoe so it is a blessed day.

 

"I could have only ever dreamed of being where I am today. didn't have a magic ball when I came to Mercedes but here I am and as a team we are trying to make the most of it."

 

The Briton added: "I had cramp in my right calf so I was lifting down the straight because it felt like it was about to pull but I had to get through it."

 

Earlier before the race, Lewis Hamilton voiced out his support for the #EndSARS campaign against police brutality in Nigeria.
