The actor will play the real agent of the Metropolitan Police, Leroy Logan, who wanted to make a change in the force after his father was assaulted by 2 police officers in the episode titled "Red, White and Blue". Logan received an MBE from the Queen in 2001 for his role in shaping anti-racism policies for the police. He retired as superintendent in 2013 after 30 years of service.
He is also a past president and founder of the Black Police Association Charitable Trust.

The first photo from Steve McQueen’s forthcoming anthology drama series titled “Small Axe” has premiered and it’s featuring Star Wars alum John Boyega.
The series to be released on the BBC and Amazon later this year revolves around the West Indian community of London between the 1960s and 1980s. It is said to consist of six parts that tell five different stories.
Small Ax stars Letitia Wright and John Boyega with Malachi Kirby, Shaun Parkes, Rochenda Sandall, Alex Jennings and Jack Lowden.
The anthology series is produced by Tracey Scoffield and David Tanner for Turbine Studios and Steve McQueen for Lammas Park. Mike Elliot will produce for EMU Films with Turbine Studios and Anita Overland.
Sharing a photo of himself in character as Logan on Instagram, Boyega wrote: “Had the joy of teaming up with Steve McQueen for his hotly-anticipated series Small Axe. Here’s a first look! Black British history will be televised!”.
