Tekashi 69 or 6ix9ine went live on Instagram in his first live appearance since being released early from prison due to Coronavirus pandemic.
Tekashi69 was sentenced to 2 years in prison in December 2019 after testifying in US federal court about his involvement with Nine Trey Bloods gang and “snitching” on his alleged former fellow members as part of a plea deal to cut down his jail term.
The rapper was released from prison early because he was vulnerable to the Coronavirus, and he will complete his two-year sentence for racketeering and other charges in home confinement.
He released his first new track, “Gooba,” to celebrate his return and shortly after the song was released, 6ix9ine fired up his Instagram account for a livestreamed rant that lasted about 13 minutes
Within seconds, the rapper broke viewing records on Instagram Live with an overall viewership of 2 million. During the live session, Tekashi celebrated his early release which also happened to be his birthday, talked about loyalty, and why he “ratted.”
He spoke of attempts on his life and theft of his money, and said that people had tried to kidnap his mother, answering barbs that he’d betrayed his loyalty to the gang by arguing they hadn’t been loyal to him.
“I snitched; I ratted,” he said. “But who was I supposed to be loyal.”
“You live your whole life trying to be a real n***a, trying to be stand up tall loyal guy…If a rat came home like the way I came home and did more numbers than me, I would be mad. You have every reason to be mad,” he said
Tekashi added, “I still came home and I’m a legend at the age of 24 years old because I came home and rat is doing more numbers than you. I would be mad too. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.”
