
The service, UberBOAT, is being operated in partnership with the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).
At a press conference , Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said “We have a small land space in Lagos to move over 10% of this country’s population. We’re partnering with the private sector to ease the lives of our people” before embarking on a symbolic ride to trial the service.

In an email announcing the service to users, Uber said that the service will be available only on weekdays for the next 2 weeks starting from 11th- 25th October 2019. UberBOAT will be travelling along the following routes:
- Ikorodu – Falomo in the morning. (N500 per trip)
- Falomo – Ikorodu in the evening. (N500 per trip)
