I’m Concentrating On Emceeing Because The Movie Industry Is Dead, There Are No Productions – Nikki Samonas

Ghanaian actress Nikki Samonas says she is currently putting more of her energy into emceeing, citing what she describes as a lack of film productions.

For an actress who built part of her public identity on screen, the statement says something bigger about where the industry is — and where its actors are choosing to go when the work becomes less consistent.

Nikki isn't saying she has stopped being an actress. She is describing a shift in where the opportunities are.

“Sincerely, I wish things were much better with our movie sector than they are now because productions across the country have been slow,” she revealed.
“I still get scripts for roles but the numbers are not encouraging as in previous years where you could get 15 scripts in a year.”
Samonas added that for now she’s concentrating on being an MC to feed herself because she cannot rely on the dead movie industry.
In this climate, actors who decide to sit home and do nothing to supplement their income are going to be fighting hunger – allegedly.

When the stage is moving faster than the screen, do you wait for the industry to recover — or do you follow where the work is?
