Corey Atchison, Wrongfully Convicted Of Murder, Set Free After 28 Years In Prison

Corey Atchison is now a free man after serving over 28 years in prison for a murder he did not commit.Corey Atchison has always maintained his innocence. Corey Atchison, a Tulsa.Ok man who was wrongfully convicted of murder, was released after serving over 28 years in prison. Get the scoop.
Atchison is accused of fatally shooting James Lane in the chest during a robbery in 1990.
Corey was in the area with friends when the shooting occurred and he was arrested for the murder 6+ months later and convicted a year later.
District Judge Sharon Holmes found that his case was marred by a “fundamental miscarriage of justice” including false testimony and no concrete evidence proving Corey actually committed the murder.

His lawyer Joseph Norwood told The Washington Post:
Corey was arrested 3 months before his daughter was born; this is the first time he’s been able to have some real contact with her and the same with his 10-year-old grandson.
I’m very proud to have vindicated them and reunited them.
Upon his release and being reunited with his ecstatic family, Corey said, “You just move on, keep going, that’s the only way you’re going to make it. I can’t hold no grudge. Life’s too short.”

The district attorney says he plans to file an appeal.
, Corey Atchison’s young brother, Malcolm Scott, was also wrongfully convicted of murder. The same judge overturned his conviction in 2016.
