Ava DuVernay took to her Twitter today to pay tribute to the Nigerian actor as he wrapped up production of his own film, “The Water Man.”
The film is executive-produced by Oprah Winfrey. Oyelowo will also produce and star in the film alongside Rosario Dawson, Lonnie Chavis, Amiah Miller, Alfred Molina and Maria Bello.
“On this day 5 years ago, I wrapped production on SELMA. I directed this man who is like a brother to me. Today, he wrapped production on his own feature film as a director,” said Duvernay in her Twitter post, adding, “Incredible! Congrats to the marvelous David Oyelowo. A beautiful artist in front of and behind the camera.”
