Burna Boy explains why he did not go on stage for his BET award

 

Burna Boy won the award for the Best International Act category at yesterday’s BET awards ceremony. A month ago his mother, Bose Ogulu in a similar fashion accepted his award at the Ghana Music awards for the Best African Act category.
He was present at the event with his girlfriend Stefflon Don and his mother, it was his mum that went on stage to accept the award on her son’s behalf.
A lot of fans have been wondering why Burna Boy did not go up on stage to take his own award but allowed his mother and manager to do the honours.
According to Burna Boy, he had just gone out of the auditorium to get a drink when he was called as the winner of the award and that is why his mother accepted the award on his behalf.
He made this revelation on twitter when a fan asked him how many awards his mum will be taking on his behalf.
He said “Funny enough I went to Get a drink! I would have collected this one”
