'90s R&B girl group Xscape made a comeback 2 years ago at the 2017 BET Awards show after performing together nearly 2 decades ago.
They performed their hit single “Just Kickin’ It” ,“Understanding” and “Who Can I Run To?”after disbanding more than 15 years apart.
Tiny Harris confirmed on April 25, during a private listening party for her new EP, that the film was still in the works.
“You definitely going to see the biopic, it’s definitely coming, it’s in the works,” she said during the press conference at the listening party. “I’m sure we’ll be recording new music for the biopic and probably redoing some of our old songs. I’m sure it’ll be some new music from Xscape.”
The film was initially slated to premiere on Bravo in 2018, but it apparently was delayed for unknown reasons. Harris didn’t specify a release date, but she did note that the group plans on recording new music for the movie.
The biopic will highlight the lives of 4 group members Harris, Kandi Burruss, LaTocha and Tamika Scott growing up as Xscape and detail the events that led up to their epic reunion.
“Love and Hip Hop” franchise exec Mona Scott-Young announced in 2017 that she’ll be producing the film.
The actress potraying the group member remains a mystery, but Harris wants her 23-year-old daughter Zonnique Pullins to star as her.
“I want Zonnique to play me just because … she knows me, she can basically mock me down to the tee,” said Harris. “I’m colorful in a lot of ways, sweet, calm, I’m quiet and then I’m obnoxious and crazy and she can do all of that. I would love her to play me.”
