In the Nigerian constitution, there is no law against a governor running for national assembly and over the years many have moved from the state house to the national assembly.
Uche Jombo has called for law against governors becoming law makers in the red chamber.Getting forms to apply for these positions costs millions of naira that only the politicians can provide, as Nigerian youth cannot afford, thereby making money/power circulate to just them and their families as a monarchical system of government.
Jombo shared her thought on social media and stated that it is as though the senate has become a retirement plan for governors as many of them just think to run for seats the moment they finish serving as governors.
Uche Jombo adds many other Nigerians who seem to be tired of having to recycle old leaders on different levels.Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun has been declared the winner of the Ogun Central senatorial district election. The returning officer, Prof. Ayinde Akanbi, declared on Monday, February 25, that Amosun polled 88,110 votes to defeat Tunji Oseni-Gomez of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), who had 37,101 votes.The governor of Oyo state- Abiola Ajimobi, under the APC contested for the senatorial seat and lost to PDP’s Kola Balogun in Saturday’s election. Former governor of Lagos state, Babajide Fashola, currently the Federal Minister of Power, Works and Housing and Adams Oshiomhole current national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) political party also an ex governor of Edo state. These and many more are examples of leaders who after holding one position or the other for 8 or 4 years still have a way of remaining in political positions.
Her remarkable movies are “Games Men Play”, where she also co-wrote the script, “ A Time To Love”, “Girls in the Hood”, and “The Celebrity”. She starred in a self-produced film productions, such as “Damage”, “Nollywood Hustlers”, “Lies Men Tell”, “Holding Hope”, “Keep My Will”, “Darkest Night”, and “Kiss And Tell”. In general, Uche’s production company has created more than fourteen movies and twenty screenplays.
