. Cardi’s had 75,580 people in her presence. The previous record holder was Garth Brooks. Tickets for her performance at the rodeo sold out within 40 minutes. Cardi took a cute moment to thank the real inspiration behind her record-breaking concert, her music video, and overall general vibe. The Bronx rapper wore the cutest pink and blue cowboy outfit perfect for a night at the rodeo. Her glammed out country costume, topped with a cowboy hat and chaps, seemed like something Selena would be wearing today. In an Instagram post, Cardi told fans that she was so nervous about performing at the rodeo because there were so many people, but then she saw a picture of Selena on the wall, and that eased her nerves.

She also said that it was Selena who inspired her look in her new music video with Bruno Mars, “Please Me,” which of course we already knew. While Cardi didn’t follow in the footsteps of Musgraves or Prince Royce to perform a cover on the rodeo stage, she did break into song backstage and sang a bit of “Como La Flor.”
“I was so nervous to perform in front of 70,000-plus people, but when I saw this picture,” Cardi said while standing next to a Selena portrait. “Like, out of all the outfits that she wore, for me to see this picture with this outfit — this was the inspiration for ‘Please Me’—I knew I was gonna be alright. I love you, man.”
