The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has condemned the trial of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, by the Federal Government.
Chairman of PFN in the South East, Cosmas Ilechukwu, faulted the action of the government while addressing reporters on Saturday at the end of a National Action and Pastoral Committee meeting in Owerri, the Imo State capital. He claimed that the haste with which the petition and arraignment of
the CJNs were being made they seemed to have a political tone. Ilechukwu added that the government's action was able to intimidate the judiciary who played a crucial role in safeguarding fragile democracy in the country. He, however, called on the government to allow peace to reign in the interests of the Nigerians and to ensure that the general elections were not authorized to be truncated. The cleric also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operators to fulfill their functions in an honorific manner without compromising. He called all Christians across the country not to be indifferent to the elections but to exercise their civic responsibility and to choose the best candidate to lead the country.
