Cynthia Erivo brought an explosive performance to the screen in 2018 when she appeared alongside Viola Davis in Widows and in Drew Goddard’s Bad Times at the El Royale. She has won Tony, Emmy, and Grammy awards, she is quite possibly about to make another addition to her bag after being nominated for the EE Rising Star Award. The award, which is public-voted, is presented to young acting talents who have demonstrated ambition and begun to capture the imagination of the British public.
At the nomination ceremony in London, Erivo said, “I’m ever grateful to BAFTA and the jury panel for nominating me for the 2019 EE Rising Star Award. It means the world to me to be acknowledged by the community that, for most of my life, I’ve known as home. Thank you for this incredible honour.”
Erivo is nominated alongside Jessie Buckley, Barry Keoghan, Lakeith Stanfield, and Letitia Wright and the winner will be announced at the Award event on February 10.
