The world has finally being bit by African music bug, it became crucial that our music industry evolve to better fit this technological age. Therefore, Boomplay, a Nigerian online streaming platform, could not get a better time with the start in 2015. The platform joins local music content to users worldwide, and this year our faves Tope Alabi and Simi became some of the most streamed artists on the platform .At the end of 2018, the platform ranked its top 10 artists based on the number of plays each musician accumulated throughout the year, with Tope Alabi leading the charge. This comes as no surprise as she dominates the gospel section of Nigerian music and also recorded a moving freestyle session with TY Bello in 2018. Davido came in at number two followed by Simi. There’s no doubt about the fact that Nigerians love Simi and we also can’t forget the fact that her debut album, Simisola is easily one of the most solid breakout albums of this time.
