Mo Fayose Offers Christmas Dinner To Lonely People In Nottingham
UK-based Nigerian woman, Mo Fayose, who organizes Christmas dinner for lonely people, were allowed to post flyers to her Nottingham community for the event. Mo, who is a mental health nurse, has run the event for three years and they have become as popular as it employs two halls to feed more than 100 people. With about $ 3,000 of its personal money and donations, Mo pays for places, while a volunteer team cooks a three-course dinner.
In an interview with BBC she said she had “been through it all” in life, including the breakdown of her marriage and being blinded in one eye because of a car accident.
She decided to put up posters for this year’s event, so as to get across to people who are not on social media but she was shocked when a Nottingham City Council community protection officer ordered her to remove them.
However, while highlighting that fly-posting is a problem in the city, the council has decided to take no action regarding the posters. Describing Mo’s work as fantastic, the council said it always promotes the importance of looking after each other which includes encouraging people to cook a Christmas dinner for neighbours who may be on their own.... spill TEA ☕ Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie
