Roma Set To Donate 150,000 Euros to Liverpool Assault Victim Sean Cox

Rome revealed that they will donate an initial sum of 150,000 euros ($ 170,000) to the family of Liverpool fanatic Sean Cox, who suffered a serious brain injury after being attacked by Roma supporters. Irish Cox, a 53-year-old man, was on the way to the semifinals of the Anfield Champions League in April, when he was attacked by two ultras in Rome. Cox suffered brain damage as a result of the attack and still can not speak or feel without help. "What happened to Sean Cox should never happen to anyone attending a football game," said club president Jim Pallotta in a statement. "Our thoughts today, as they have been from the first day, are with Sean, Martina and all her family. We all hope that they will make a recovery as complete as possible. "Club officials traveled to Ireland to meet with the wife of Sean Martina and representatives who help manage the family's collection efforts." Our life He has been revoked for what happened to Sean, "said his wife Martina.A GoFundMe page has also been created to raise funds for the medical costs of Cox, with many contributors from Italy contributing. Filippo Lombardi, 21, was fired by a court in October of being part of a joint attack against Cox, but admitted a violent disorder. The court found out that another man had been arrested in Rome in connection with the attack and was waiting for extradition.

“There is no sign of Sean being able to return home any time soon and even with extensive specialist rehabilitation efforts, which will take years, he will require care for the rest of his life.” She added: “We are hugely appreciative of today’s donation by AS Roma and Mr Pallotta, and more particularly by committing to meaningful assistance over the coming years with the struggle Sean is facing into.”

Roma said they will donate 100,000 euros through its Roma Cares foundation, while Pallotta would make a personal donation of 50,000 euros. “Having offered an initial financial donation, Roma have also agreed to work with the Cox family on further fundraising initiatives that will help cover ongoing costs for Sean over a multi-year period,” the club commented.
