The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, has commenced GREEN SWEEP OPERATION against the terrorists of Boko Haram (BHT) to the northeast. The operation, which began on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, is an aeronautical interdiction operation aimed at selected locations of BHT within the limits of Chad Lake, as well as in the areas of the Alagarno forest near Sambisa, at the state of Borno, with a view to further degrading the remains of terrorists, reducing their freedom of action and denying them the bases from which they could launch attacks.
On the morning of Day One Operation, the air strikes of NAF aircraft caused the destruction of a hostage and neutralization of BHT from several terrorists in Sharama on the Chad Green Lake Fringes in northern Borno. The attack was carried out following series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Recognition missions (ISR), which showed the presence of a significant number of BHT combatants in buildings under trees distributed by the settlement. As a result, the ATF sent 2 NAF Alpha Jet aircraft to attack the camp, which led to the destruction of some of the structures and equipment as well as the murder of several BHT.
