Man Caught Attempting To Sell Human Eyeball For N250,000 In Niger State

The Niger State Police Command arrested Shuaibu Ibrahim,35, of Safiu village in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State with a human eyeball.
Northern City News gathered that one Ojo, now at large, reportedly gave the eyeball to the suspect to sell in Niger State for N250,000.

According to the police report, operatives attached to the Gawu Babangida Division in Gurara Local Government Area arrested Ibrahim.

It was learnt that the police operatives apprehended the suspect in the early hours of Thursday following a tip-off from a member of the public.

The eyeball was said to have been removed from a victim of a communal clash between the Igbira and Bassa people in Nasarawa State.

Further checks revealed that the suspect had been involved in the illegal trafficking of human parts across the northern states for over five years.

The suspect said he was the intermediary between Ojo and his customers, who were buyers of human parts.

Ibrahim said, “My duty is to deliver human parts given to me by Ojo to his clients across the northern states. We make quick money in this business but I cannot tell what the buyers are using the parts for.

“A lot of people are interested in buying human parts but I don’t know what they use them for. My duty is to deliver as and when due to our clients and collect the money.

“I don’t even ask clients what they are using the human eyeballs for, but I guess it must be something serious.”

Actress Regina King is on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. King graces the cover with 4 leading ladies -- Glenn Close, Kathryn Hahn, Nicole Kidman, Rachel Weisz and pop singer Lady Gaga.

Regina's hard work paid off when she won an Emmy recently for her role in the film Seven Seconds.
Inside the mag, the ladies discussed how Hollywood has changed as a consequence of social media's focus on the gender wage gap.
Regina, 47, says she was aware of the growing pay gap between actors, but she didn't dwell on it because she wanted the work. She said she never discussed the gender pay gap with her agent.
"I was talking to [actress] Maggie Gyllenhaal -- just because we both have been acting for so long, and were young when we started — and I feel like I was very much aware of the pay differences between men and women," she said. "I knew it and I just said, 'Yeah, OK. That's there. But I'm focusing on the work.' So now it's like, 'Oh, shoot. I never had a conversation with any of my female peers that were experiencing the same thing.'

Fifty-one pilot whales died after being stranded on a beach in the Chatham Islands of New Zealand.  The mass encorado means that more than 200 whales died in separate incidents during last week in the region.  The Conservation Department of New Zealand claims that between 80 and 90 whales were found in the Hanson Bay area on Thursday.  Several dozens managed to recover, but 50 were found dead and one had to be knocked down.  "There was no chance of being able to successfully save the remaining whale. Unfortunately, the decision was made for euthanasia. It was the most human thing to do," said Chatham Islands operations manager, Dave Carlton.

Jay Z aims at Kanye West on Meek Mill's new album

Jay Z takes a shot at Kanye West on?Meek Mill

Jay-Z used his feature on Meek Mill's new studio album Championships to call out Kanye West.

Beyoncé hubby took aim at West on "What's Free", a collaboration with Rick Ross and Mill, which is a take on Notorious BIG's "What's Beef". In the track, Jay-Z mocks West over his support of Trump, rapping: "No red hat, don't Michael and Prince me and Ye / They separate you when you got Michael and Prince's DNA / I ain't one of these house n***as you bought / My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours."

Then he appears to almost-compare West's wife Kim Kardashian with his own wife, Beyonce: "My spo– c'mon man, my route better, of course."

Jay-Z and West's relationship has been tumultuous of late. During an interview in April with David Letterman, he spoke about his relationship with West and said: "That's my brother. We're beyond friends. Really, like literally, my little brother is Kanye, and like your little brother, things happen sometimes."

Nikki Laoye and hubby, Alex Oturu part ways after 7 years

Gospel singer Nikki Laoye and hubby, Alex Oturu part ways after 7 years

Gospel singer, Nikki Laoye and hubby, Alex Oturu have reportedly split and are heading for divorce, after been married for 7 years.

Nikki Laoye and Alex Oturu got married in a grand wedding ceremony which was held in Lagos on the 11th of December, 2011. They married as virgins.

Nikki said she and her hubby married as virgins and both of them had never had sex before marriage.
In her words: –
“My husband was not surprised that I was a virgin when we got married because he was also a virgin. Even though I was a virgin when I got married, I had equipped myself with information on sex education. I preach to Christian ladies that they should not think that because they are virgins, they should not find out how to get things done because when they get there, they have work to do. It has been fun and an adventure for us because we are finding out things about ourselves.”
“I decided to remain a virgin till I got married. I did not just want to be jumping from one man to another. It is often said that once you pop the cherry, you can’t stop and I did not want to deal with sexual issues while I was dealing with my life and education. I also did not want to get pregnant, so I told God to help me. I was tempted a lot but I was blessed to have wonderful relationships whereby the men respected my decision and even helped me to keep my promise. My husband also told me that he kept himself for a special woman. The truth is that now that I am having a lot of sex, I have come to realize that it is very emotional and it should be done with someone you will love to see the next day,”
The couple have been separated for about a year due to an alleged irreconcilable difference and reportedly don’t live together.
Nikki Laoye and Alex Oturu have also not been together in public for a while, and have also ditched their wedding bands in recent photos.

While the gospel singer and her husband don’t have a child together, a source close to the family disclosed that couple might have even begun divorce proceedings but have split on amicable terms and remain friends.

Pls ladies shine your eyes... marriage is a good thing.... pls marry a man that loves you.
Don't get carried away by the "feeling' watch and pray.

Travis Scott to invest his Astroworld in marijuana business

Scott recently filed paperwork to blaze a trail into the marijuana accessories market. He wants to slap “Astroworld” all over pipes, bongs and hookahs. And, lest you think this is some half-baked plan … it’s a savvy move to keep cashing in on the title of his hit album, music festival and tour.
According to document obtained by TMZ, the gear will be for use with tobacco.
It’s a small step for Travis, after his giant leaps to trademark “S.P.A.C.E” merch and “ASTROWORLD” jewelry.
It seems Travis has figured it out there are lots of money to be made off marijuana.

Chude Jideonwo Praises Kemi Adetiba For #KingOfBoys.
‎Ifechukwude Osanedum Jideonwo was named by Forbes as one of Africa's 30 best entrepreneurs under 30. He is Managing Partner of Red Media Africa .He praised prolific director for her blockbuster ...magine he watched it 3x.

THRICE.
That’s how many times I have now watched #KingOfBoys.
First on the day it opened.
Second, 3 days after.
And then, again, yesterday night.
I haven’t been this excited about a Nigerian story since... Diamond Ring.
You know, when Kemi Adetiba delivered the piece of genius called #TheWeddingParty, I was worried for two reasons.
A. That she would get no respect for what she just did. Lazy critics dismissed its success as the love of Nigerians for slap stick comedy, both showing they don’t know what slap stick is, and that their lazy derision of Nigerian storytelling has blinded them to the fact that this director just wove a million brilliant threads and tropes into a compelling mirror into what makes the culture throb in our country. TWP wasn’t an accident. TWP was craftsmanship, every frame deliberate and delicious. Kemi already made the point about her prodigiousness with it.
B. That we would all miss the point of Sola Sobowale. And we did. Many of those who gave her roles after showed themselves completely unaware that the magic she presented in TWP wasn’t comedic timing, it was the depth and range of her transcendent talent. Kemi got the essence of Sobowale and knew that we had just unwrapped the first layer. And there is more from that endless well of, yes, Viola Davis-esque gravitas. No hyperboles.

With #KingOfBoys, Kemi finally made sure you didn’t miss the point.
With this, she also made it clear that, in that industry, today, she has no peer.

The sheer audacity of giving us a 3-hour film and daring us to leave (Surulere cinema is the harshest - and we stayed till the end, and gave a standing and clapping ovation). The chutzpah of giving us so many delightful characters without worrying that we would follow the threads.
The sheer confidence in allowing this film speak for and sell itself, no gimmicks needed.

I am a lover of Nigerian stories. Crazy about them.
Our stories truly, deeply matter - and they are often told with a hammer rather than pestle.
So I am both deeply grateful to and in awe of those who get the essence, the beauty, the magic of the multiple Nigerian narratives that dimmer eyes often sadly miss.

Kemi just gave me a gift. 😌 JUICY COMMENTS 😌 ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ next... FOLLOW ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Instagram - kemikingblog Facebook - jaiyeorie Weddings - jaiyeorieweddings Advertise/ send gist to us - jaiyenews@gmail.com ... spill TEA ☕ Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie

Nigerian power firm to sell electricity to Burkina Faso

Nigerian power firm to sell electricity to Burkina Faso
Nigeria isallegedly preparing to sell its “stranded electricity” to Burkina Faso, as the nation’s power industry continues to battle challenges.
The planned energy export is being put in place by the concessionaire of Kainji and Jebba hydro power stations, Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, MESL.

The company said it had been approached by the West African nation and it was ready for a deal.
“I am complaining that I have energy that cannot be utilised,” said the managing director of the company, Lamu Audu, on Thursday. “And some of us are actually looking beyond the borders of Nigeria to sell our power if the Nigerian market cannot take it because we have to remain in business—-we have responsibilities to our shareholders.
“Investments have been made, and that is why we are looking into the West African market. Honestly, we are already talking to Burkina Faso. They approached us and we are willing to have deals with them to sell power to them. They are willing to buy.”
Mr Audu said this at the PwC’s Annual Power and Utilities Roundtable in Lagos.
The company acquired Kainji and Jebba power plants through a concession agreement in November 2013, following the privatisation of the power sector.
Speaking during a panel session at the event, Mr Audu said when the firm took over in 2013, it had not a single generating unit in operation although it had an installed capacity of 760 MW.
He explained that Jebba had an installed capacity of 578 .4 MW, with six generating units.
However, he said, the company took over five generating units that had not been overhauled in 30 years.
“As we speak today, we generate 20 to 25 per cent of the energy going into the grid,” Mr Audu said.
“We have ramped up our capacity at Kainji from zero to 440 MW. At Jebba, what we concentrated on is the reliability of the existing units. We utilised the capacity of our staff to recover some of the units.
“Currently, we have a capacity of 922 MW but, on the average, it is only 600 MW to 650 MW that is utilised. So, we have stranded energy, which is seriously impacting on our ability to attract more funding for capacity recovery and capacity expansion.”
Issues of blackout and perennial power failure have impeded on the nation’s growth and development for decades. A number of public officials who promised to deliver when appointed into the power ministry end up failing to actualise their dreams.
The minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has however said at different fora that the nation’s power situation has improved.
Mr Audu said some stakeholders are looking beyond the shores of Nigeria to attract investment and optimise underutilised power.
He also explained that the challenges in the Nigerian power industry are complex, adding that they nation may not experience uninterrupted power supply until the next two decades.

By-election: LASIEC assures stakeholders of credible elections

Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips has assured stakeholders that the Commission would live up to expectation as an unbiased electoral umpire in the conduct of the Councillorship by-election into Ward C (Owode Orile) in Bariga Local Council Development Area of the State.
She affirmed that the Commission had no “preferred political party or candidate for the by-election”.
Justice Phillips gave the assurance in an address delivered on her behalf by Chief (Mrs) Toyin Ibrahim-Famakinwa at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Commission towards the conduct of a by-election to fill the vacant Councillorship seat in Bariga LCDA.
The Chairman  stressed that the Commission would ensure that the votes cast by eligible voters in the affected Ward would determine the winner of the election, adding that eligible voters in the area should, therefore, actively participate in the process to vote for the candidate who would best represent them in government at the grassroots level.

While commiserating with the family, the people of Bariga Local Council Development Area and political associates of Mr. Solomon Awokoya, the deceased who represented the Ward, Justice Phillips said that the Commission was obliged by law to conduct the by-election to fill the vacuum arising from the demise of the Councillor.

She commented that the stakeholders’ forum was organised by the Commission to enable interaction and exchange ideas with a view to ensuring the success of the electoral process that would culminate in the election of a new Councillor for the Ward.

Commission has also disclosed that collection of nomination forms by political parties would commence on Thursday, 29th November 2018 while the closing date for the submission of nomination forms is Wednesday, 5th December 2018.

Leaders of political parties, traditional rulers, community leaders, law enforcement personnel and other key stakeholders also attended the meeting.

360,000 adolescents expected to die of AIDS by 2030, says UNICEF
Some 360,000 adolescents are expected to die of AIDS by 2030 if investment in HIV prevention is not ramped up, according to a UNICEF report released on Thursday.
The figures show the world is “off track’’ in its goal to end AIDS among children by 2030, UNICEF’s executive director, Henrietta Fore, said.
Projections show there will be a decline in the number of children and young people infected with HIV and dying from AIDS-related causes.
But the UN children’s fund warned progress is notably slower among adolescents – defined by the UN as those between ages 10 and 19.
For example, AIDS-related deaths are projected to decrease by 57 per cent among children below the age of 14 by 2030, compared with 35 per cent among those aged 15 to 19 years.
“Programmes to prevent HIV transmission from mothers to babies are paying off but haven’t gone far enough.
“Programmes to treat the virus and prevent it from spreading among older children are nowhere near where they should be,’’ Ms Fore said.
The report blames slow progress in preventing HIV among young children, along with a failure to address structural and behavioural drivers of the epidemic.
For example, many young people do not know they have HIV, and those who do often fail to stick to their treatment plans.
UNICEF is pushing for more family-centred testing and diagnostic technologies, as well as targeted outreach programmes and a greater use of digital platforms to improve knowledge of HIV among adolescents.
