Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered the arrest of her own Aide De Camp, after accusing him of defrauding her, PREMIUM TIMES headlines.
The president's wife is claiming that Sani Baba-Inna, a chief of police superintendent, received big donations from politicians and business people on her behalf and then carried the money for herself. Mrs. Buhari therefore requested from Police Inspector General Ibrahim Idris to arrest and force Mr. Baba-Inna to reimburse the money, estimated to be over 2.5 billion. Police officer was arrested Friday and has remained in detention since then, while relatives have no access to it, say family members. A collaborator of the alleged police officer said Mr. Baba-Inna strongly denied the charge, saying he received no gift from anyone on behalf of his boss. Immediately the police took the petition from Mrs. Buhari, ADC was arrested Friday last week and started the investigation.
“The IG said the matter must be investigated immediately and the house of the ADC was raided,” a sources told PT.
“Shockingly, investigators only found N1,200 cash in the House. His bank account was also investigated and had only a balance of N30,000 while the transaction records showed that most credits to the account were his salaries and allowances.”
The police, it was gathered, concluded that Mrs Buhari must have been wrongly informed as there was nothing to show or prove that such huge sums of money was in the custody of Mr Baba-Inna.
An associate of Mr. Baba-Inna said the police contacted those named as donors of the controversial funds but that they all denied making the donations attributed to them.
“For instance, one of those named was the IG of Police himself,” the source said. “But the IG said he has never passed any money through Baba-Inna.”
When Mrs. Buhari was briefed on the results of police investigations, the source said the first lady was ignited and accused the police of co-operation "to protect one of them." It is reportedly asked the State Security Service (DSS) to take over the matter and return its money, "after which DSS operatives allegedly took custody under Mr Baba Inna's custody. While police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said he is unaware of the case, Hasena, Baba-Inna confirmed the arrest .
