Jennifer Lopez was revealed as the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming 2018 Video Music Awards.
The news was revealed on MTV’s Facebook Live page by Sway Calloway, who commented that the star will be performing live at the show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on August 20.
Lopez said: “It is amazing, honestly. Growing up on MTV and watching all my idols get this award … To be the recipient this year, I can’t even believe it. I’m so excited.”
ICYMI I’m getting the 2018 @MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award... so excited!!! So grateful. #letsgetit #vmas
While many fans are happy for her, some aren’t. Their reason? Björk, Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot should have gotten it first before J-Lo because of their discography and impact on the music culture.
