The multiple award-winning writer/speaker stated the reason behind her choice of fashion in an interview with i-D’s Candice Carty-Williams, where she said it is also a way to support an industry that is full of talents.

“I decided to use fashion as a kind of political statement which is to say that I made the choice to wear mostly Nigerian designers to public events, because obviously, I want to support an industry that’s full of talent, but also to make a case for how fashion can tell a story. Fashion and culture are intertwined in very interesting ways.”
Adichie’s works include Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, Americanah among others. She remains a firm believer in equal rights for women and less privileged in the society.
