Linkin Park Pays Chester Bennington Online Tribute 1 Year After His Death
Linkin Park has taken to social media to pay a tribute to Chester Bennington on the anniversary of his death.
Bennington committed suicide at age 41 on July 20, 2017. He is survived by wife Talinda Bennington, their son and twin daughters and his three children from previous relationships.
“To our brother Chester, It has been a year since your passing—a surreal rotation of grief, heartbreak, refusal, and recognition. And yet it still feels like you are close by, surrounding us with your memory and your light,” said the heartfelt message shared on Linkin Park’s Instagram page, alongside a photo of Chester in concert.
Adding, “Your one-of-a-kind spirit has authored an indelible imprint on our hearts—our jokes, our joy, and our tenderness. Eternally grateful for the love, life, and creative passion you shared with us and the world. We miss you more than words can express. Love, M, J, D, R, B #MakeChesterProud #320ChangesDirection.”
This comes not long after Chester’s wife, Talinda, spoke to Fox 11 news station about her husband’s life, noting that she “didn’t understand the shame” he had when he would return from a visit to his therapist, who told him he was clinically depressed and had to be treated with medication.
“He had a No. 1 album,” she said, recalling Chester’s career successes. “He was extremely close with his family. We just bought a house. It was awesome. We had a great relationship. He was my best friend.”
