Variety comments that Anthony Anderson is currently under criminal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly assaulting a woman.
According to Variety, the woman filed a police report with the Hollywood Division of the LAPD earlier in the year following an incident that reportedly happened over a year ago. While the details of the alleged assault are not yet made public, the woman said she woman met with Anderson to talk business, things quickly went south and he assaulted her.
However, Anderson denies this.
“It’s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report whether it is true or false,” said his rep to TMZ. “The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”
Meanwhile, sources close to the woman said she felt comfortable coming forward to police because of the #MeToo movement.
The Romeo Must Die actor and his assistant director were previously charged with raping a woman on the set of 2004’s Hustle & Flow film. The charges were eventually dropped because the judge though the case was “suspicious.”
