Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is set to join AC Milan as executive director in September, according to reports in Italy.
This comes after Milan takeover by American hedge fund Elliot Management, which now targets Gazidis as the man they wish to come in and restore the club’s lost glory.
Gazidis, who arrived at the Emirates in 2008, was responsible for replacing former boss Arsene Wenger with Unai Emery.
Emery's arrival came through an overhauling of the structure of Gazidis's club as he led Raul Sanllehi's head of relations from Barcelona and former Borussia Dortmund scout Sven Mislintat as chief of recruitment. The 53-year-old overseer is currently in Singapore with the crowd for their pre-season tour. Sky said his long-awaited departure could spell additional board-level disruption for Arsenal with Alisher Usmanov claiming to be selling his 30-percent stake at the club with majority shareholder Stan Kroenke. The Russian billionaire expects to buy the club from Kroenke but the US sports mogul refuses to engage in talks on taking power. Milan last week won an appeal to return to the Europa League after their Uefa's first two-year ban for violation of the Financial Fair Play policies.
