Peugeot ,Aliko Dangote and five state governments To Start Nigeria Assembly Plant

PSA Peugeot Citroen expects to begin to assemble cars in Nigeria in the first quarter of 2019, through a joint venture with Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote and five state governments, one of the local partners who said in Reuters.  The joint venture, Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) Ltd, will build 3,500 units in its first year and climb to nearly 10,000 units, according to Jimi Lawal, governor of Kaduna, in the northwest of the state where the plant is located .  The auto market in most of Africa's population of 190 million people has a great potential but only a small number of new vehicles being sold yearly. The limited bank opening and lack of an industrial policy are growing in growth in a sector led by imported used vehicles.

“The first vehicle should come out by the first quarter of next year. We are hoping that the factory will be completed by December,” Lawal told Reuters in an interview. “The land has been identified ... we have advertised for a contractor that will build the factory,” he added.
