A scary taxi ride led Aisha Addo to create DriveHer, a ride sharing service for women by women.
DriveHER is a Toronto based technology organization for women operated by women. It is a sharing of peer-to-peer app sharing, which allows women to interact with female drivers. After a long day, Aisha wanted to go home soon and could even go to the taxi. But when he arrived, the driver started asking his uncomfortable questions, getting his fears. The driver asked if he was alone and if he was a girlfriend. Fortunately, he returned home but could not avoid feeling that his personal space was in danger. Thus, the basis of his company is to ensure that women are safely traveling, which also gives them the opportunity to regain their safe place. The app, launched in early 2018, has built-in security for any woman experiencing unsafe surroundings. The emergency button in the app sends live information, which can alert the authorities if necessary. DriveHER also provides more job opportunities for women drivers who often do not qualify for the transportation industry. The company's mission is to be the main channel of transportation for women in their environment and beyond.
