Betty Irabor, Bobo Omotayo, Titi Oyinsan attend Tosan Jemide’s much anticipated book, “Sugar Icing: A Story of Grit and Glory”Lagos Nigeria welcomed the arrival of Tosan Jemide’s much anticipated book, “Sugar Icing: A Story of Grit and Glory” on Friday April 6th. The Lekki Coliseum venue of the book presentation, which also doubled as the 50th birthday celebration for the celebrity cake maestro, was filled with the crème of Nigerian society who came out to support the launch including Senator Ita Giwa, Senator Daisy Danjuma and many more.

Good food, wine and cocktails and live violin music and a grand piano create the mood for a morning of heartfelt thoughts and intimate conversations around Tosan's triumphs and trials as an entrepreneur. pastry chef, father and husband. Betty Irabor, Bobo Omotayo, Titi Oyinsan and Oriana Jemide gave a first glimpse of Sugar Icing with compelling readings from various sections of the book, which had deeply touched and inspired live and online audiences.

The book was presented by HRH, Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, who spoke about her relationship with Nigeria's leading cake maker and how he did his best to accommodate her complicated and occasional few requests cake in recent years.

Sugar Icing, the tell-all book of Tosan Jemide about challenges and success in the cake industry came at a time when the famous master also celebrated her retirement from business to address other concerns. After more than two decades in business, the celebrity cake master and the leading baker, the Tosan Jemide of Cakes by Tosan fame has announced that he will officially retire from active cake-making to focus on new projects including mentoring and setting up cake school.


In the book; Jemide, who made his name in the early 2000s as open-source cake making and the elite of Nigeria is open and faithful in his struggles not only as a rising star in business of cake, but as a husband, father and public figure. Sugar Icing was written in part as a personal biography and part of an inspirational message for up and coming businessmen looking to enter the industry. Far from being a hackneyed text however, the book contains both weight as a well written story and business journal and makes for a great read for vacationers or busy executives on long haul trips
