A 13-year-old girl in Texas is charged with stabbing her friend, 14, at death during an argument during a sleepover. Nylah Lightfoot of Fort Worth, Texas was stabbed in the chest and neck as she went to pick up her clothes from her friend's home on Tuesday. The victim's mother, Anntoinette Carter, said the suspect's mother stood up and watched the altercation between the two girls who went out, without walking. Carter said her son Nylah and the suspect are 'on-and-off friends'. He added that Nylah asked if the suspect could sleep, where Carter no said, according to The Star-Telegram. The suspect then asked Nylah to go and pick up the clothes she had transferred to the teenager. Then the two got into an altercation in the Fort Worth apartment complex and things turned out to be deadly. The police responded to a call around 3:30 am Wednesday morning. The little girl was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for her neck and sore throat where she was pronounced dead, said the Tarrant County medical reviewer.
The 13-year-old suspect, who has not been named due to her age, was arrested Wednesday according to Fort Worth Police spokesman Bradley Perez.
She is held in custody pending trial in the killing of Nylah, as ordered by State District Judge Timothy Menikos.
She wore handcuffs as she made her initial appearance before a judge on Thursday, according to Fox4.
'Now I'm daughterless. And my heart feels like it's just been ripped out and stomped on,' Carter said.
Nylah's grandfather Dwight Roberts said he wants justice for her premature death.
'This is just a wake-up call for everybody. Not only my grandkids but other kids. When your parents tell you not to do something, don't do it. Just wait. Live another day,' he said.
