Zimbabwe has asked to join the Commonwealth, said the group on Monday, marking a major step in the country's international reengagement after the overthrow of Robert Mugabe last year.
Mugabe angrily ripped off Zimbabwe from the bloc of former British colonies in 2003 after his membership was suspended for violent and corrupt elections the year before.
The Commonwealth said it received a letter dated 15 May from Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa asking to join again.
Member countries "look forward to Zimbabwe's return when conditions are right," EU Secretary-General Patricia Scotland said in a statement in London. ...Räägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie
