Newton Agbofodo Sentenced To Death For Crimes Bordering On Murder

 Newton Agbofodo, head of the besieged Ekpan community in the Uvwie council area of ​​Delta State, has been sentenced to death. He is one of the highest ranked leaders of the Uvwie Kingdom. He was arrested on June 17, 2016 and was later tried for crimes on the verge of murder. He was sentenced by the High Court of Delta 4 State in Asaba after being convicted of the four counts against him. He was sentenced to death by hanging. The charges against him were the conspiracy to commit murder, the substantial murder offense, the conspiracy to attempt murder and attempted murder. According to sources, he was reportedly involved in a series of killings in and around Ekpan, including the murder of a certain Edigbe Ikpesa in October 2012.
