Following Boko Haram's attack leaving three of its aid workers, the United Nations and Doctors Without Borders suspended all humanitarian activities in the Rann, Borno state.
Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres announced the evacuation of all humanitarian personnel and temporary suspension of all humanitarian deliveries in the area. The UN's leader in a statement was released, saying that at least one other aid worker was still critical and another three were missing while eight members of the Nigerian national security forces were also killed. "During the attack, more than 40 humanitarian workers were in Rann. All humanitarian personnel were evacuated from Rann, and all humanitarian deliveries in the area were temporarily suspended." Guterres says The Secretary-General has expressed his deepest sympathy for the affected workers with assistance, their families and the Government and the people of Nigeria. In a related development, the Doctors Without Borders also provided a statement to suspend all medical activities at Rann. Three UN workers, four soldiers and four mobile police officers were among the dead in the Borno military base attack last week.
