MI Abaga Sets The Records Straight With New Album

Mr.I Abaga released his seventh album entitled "Rendezvous" on February 8 and brought the future of music with him. Work with new artists and producers like Straffiti, Remy Baggins, GMK, Clef G, Odunsi and Nonso Amadi to name a few. The LP 15 (fifteen) track serves the lyrical masterpiece that MI is known for, and his sampling of transitions between tracks is another proof that MI is a force when it comes to music conservation and arrangements (flashes mind with the arrangement on the album CHIARMAN) I note this album 8/10. I really liked the mix of trap sounds to dancehall to pop, each song is relatable, another winning feature of most of Mr. I.'s projects.
M.I posted a concise message on his Instagram that best explains the message of the album.
“At SUNSET, a glass of Martel and some pepper SOUP and a well curated PLAYLIST is all I need. Lagos issa JUNGLE and you’ll ask yourself every day, WATS D LEVEL of crazy I can handle. This year tho! My mantra is KOSOSHI my G. Respect me so I respect YOUR FATHER because madness is not only ONE WAY. Let me put you ON CODE bro. weda you are POPPING in the club trynna get JIGGY with all the LEKKI girl dem, or taking it SLOW chilling with THE CREW banting till SUNRISE… enjoy your life.”
The album starts at a mellow Sunset featuring R&B singer Chillz. It’s a reflective song of the happenings of a long day. The horns at the end further reflects the relaxed mood of the song. It then moves to Soup which features Casper Nyovest and they are telling the fakes that they are in “trouble as he’s back to take his place as the “African Rapper No. 1”. The switch between English and Hausa is almost effortless and Casper does the same with his Swahili rap too.
Nonso Amadi blesses the next track, Playlist, with vocals that totally convey the message to their love interest while Tomi Thomas and Santi help him invite the lady to the Jungle on the next song.
M.I brings his label producer/artiste C Kay and Joules Da Kid of “Aunty Dupe” fame on this song. Wande Coal and M.I make the point that they in fact don’t have time to play around this year. According to M.I, Wande recorded his part on Kososhi sometime in 2014.
The next track sees M.I and the “Otedola” crooner, Dice Ailes link up on Your Father. Dice shows that he can rap as well as he sings on this joint.
Moelogo’s powerful voice is felt on One Way, a song that describes the unreciprocated love he shows to his love interest and how that makes him feel like a fool.
On Code features another prominent South African rapper, AKA and they once again assert their No. 1 status even when they aren’t always in public glare. Odunsi makes a debut on this track with Ghost of the Palm Wine music famous Show Dem Camp and the three of them talk about how people want to be around you when things are going fine and they disappear once things hit the fan. Jiggy features Terry Apala and together they praise the dance prowess of the female of interest.
Odunsi resurfaces with Falz and Ajebutter describe the Lekki experience. Talented artist (Visual and Vocal) Straffiti and BlaqBonez help M.I take the rest of the night slow as they all hang with The Crew which features Yung L and U.aX until the album ends at Sunrise with Trigga Madtonic.
All in all this album is a great reintroduction for M.I Abaga to the younger generationRäägi sõbrale... #AFRICA ... spill TEA ABOUT THE TOPIC ABOVE.... Easy on Shade #jaiyeorie
