Nigerian-British actor David Oyelowo was announced as a Girl Rising ambassador in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2018 in Los Angeles, California.
The actor's family joined him at the event as his father Stephen Oyelowo, his wife Jessica Oyelowo and his children Caleb Oyelowo, Penuel Oyelowo and Zoe Oyelowo were spotted on the red carpet.
David Oyelowo is a strong advocate for girls' education. He created the David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship in collaboration with the GEANCO Foundation, which specifically supports women victims of terrorist attacks and gender-based inequalities.
Girl Rising has conducted campaigns and programs in the United States, India, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo and continues to evolve.
