The Women Breaking Barriers as 1st Female Coders in #Afghanistan

The Women Breaking Barriers as First Female Coders in AfghanistanA group of young Afghan women in the western province of Herat break down barriers and become the country's first female coders. They are trained in Code to Inspire (CTI), a girls-only computer programming school, where they learn how to develop websites, build mobile apps and video games. CTI project leader Hassib Rassa said the program aims to empower women to achieve financial security, adding that the program hopes to expand and reach more people. One of the women, Khatera Mohammadi, 20 created a video game called "Fight Against Opium" to draw attention to the problem of drug trafficking in the region. In the game, an Afghan soldier goes to Helmand to get rid of the drugs. The soldier is faced with problems: hidden enemies in large corn fields, land mines, drug dealers and hidden heroin labs.
