A night of Glitz, Style and Ankara as Vlisco officially launched the Vlisco & Co Lagos edition on Friday, Dec. 15, in Alara, Victoria Island, Lagos. Vlisco in collaboration with A Whitespace Creative Agency (AWCA) officially launched the Vlisco & Co Lagos edition on Friday, December 15 in Alara, Victoria Island, Lagos. Vlisco designs and manufactures distinctive Dutch wax fabrics, which have been prevalent in Africans for more than 170 years.  Vlisco has been the only manufacturer and designer of distinctive Dutch wax fabrics, among the best known of African and African-American for over 170 years. The event also featured a new generation of talented Nigerian fashion designers based locally with entertainment stars and fashionistas. There was a presentation of collections commissioned by fashion designers, Abiola Olusola and Tokyo James.

Vlisco & Co launched with the desire to reconnect the brand with a new generation of young Nigerian designers, who have used their own unique format to create compelling new stories using the traditional aesthetics of brands.
The Vlisco &Co platform has asked African designers, artists and creatives to explore the future of African print. How will tradition merge with modernity? How will the old be improved by the new? How can African design inspiration continue to play its role in creating local global narratives for the future?
The event began with an interactive session with Karo Akpokiere in conversation with writer Ayodele Arigbabu, in a recreated studio entitled '6 Stories of Disintergration'. The illustrations and sketches reinvented new forms and processes to recreate classic Vlisco patterns. While the filmmaker, stylist and fashion-visualist, Daniel Obasi presented his inspired Afro-Futrism film entitled "A stranger in town".
