Nigeria would have around 20,210 babies born in the country at New Year, UN Children's Fund, UNICEF, said. This is the third largest population of newborns in the world on 1 January 2018.
UNICEF also said that nearly 386,000 babies will be born in New York.
The agency reported that Kiribati's Christmas Island in the Pacific is most likely to be the first baby in 2018, while the United States is the last.
Globally, more than half of these births are estimated to be held in nine countries, according to UNICEF.
