Kemi Adeosun announced the suspension of the chief executive of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mounir Gwarzo, following allegations of financial irregularities against him.
Two senior staff of the commission were also suspended. They are the head of the media division, Mr. Abdulsalam Naif; and the head of the legal department, Ms. Anastasia Braimoh. They also allegedly committed financial irregularities.
Adeosun, according to a statement signed by deputy finance director at the Ministry of Finance, Patricia Deworitshe, said the suspension should allow for unhindered investigations of allegations against the besieged DG and the other two officials.
They are the head of the media division, Mr. Abdulsalam Naif; and the head of the legal department, Ms. Anastasia Braimoh. They also allegedly committed financial irregularities.
The Minister stated that the suspension was in accordance with the Public Service Rules 03405 and 03406.
Adeosun, according to the statement, has also set up an administrative investigation panel to investigate and determine the guilt of the suspended DG.
