Hauwa Ojeifo is one of 59 Commonwealth youth to receive the prestigious Queen's Young Leaders Award in 2018. Hauwa, the founder of She Writes Women, is recognized for her work supporting women with mental disorders. The Queen's Young Leaders Awards recognize and celebrate outstanding young people aged 18 to 29 in the Commonwealth, who drive change in their communities and transform people's lives.
Hauwa wrote,
When Prince Harry uses you as an example in his congratulatory message. Wait for it. GOD!!! Again I ask, “What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life? The world would split open”
I am humbled, dazed, excited and honoured to be a part of the final @queensyoungleaders I’m still trying to digest the fact that out of 4000 people across the commonwealth, I was selected alongside 59.
I kept hearing “You really stood out, Hauwa” It’s mind-blowing! I’ll be honoured by Her Majesty the Queen of England herself in Buckingham Palace. I honestly can’t wait to meet the rest of the cohort, learn about their work, collaborate and amplify through mentoring, networking and learning.

Ya Allah! I haven’t done much today because I’m dazed by want it means to “listen and do” with tawakkul (complete and utter trust in Allah). All I’ve done today is reflect. ALHAMDULILLAH! I’m speechless.
