Customs Raid Omole Estate, Lekki Phase 1 Confiscates Smuggled Vehicles Valued At N1.3bn

Nigeria's Customs Service confiscated 64 vehicles worth more than 1.3 billion naira in a raid on Omole Estate and Lekki Phase 1 in Lagos. 3 bulletproof commercial vehicles were among the vehicles seized due to lack of End User Certificate (EUC), Customs said.  The unit of federal operations, Zone A, Lagos, led by Mohammed Uba, said Wednesday that no one came to claim ownership of the vehicles two weeks after the seizure. "When taking office, I promised that on a monthly basis, I will bring to your attention our activities," said Uba. "We intercepted 64 vehicles, of which 59 are new, and to prove that they were smuggled, the owners are on the run." The seizure comes just a month after the agency, acting on intelligence reports, intercepted 59 armored vehicles hidden in a house in Ikoyi, Lagos.  The customs controller indicated that the new entries were made through another intelligence report.
