The Nigerian army on Wednesday withdrew opera commander Lafiya Dole, Major-General Attahiru Ibrahim, and appointed a new major-general to head the military counter-insurgency operation in the north-east.
The director of public relations of the army, Brig. General Sani Usman, confirmed the development to Punch's telephone correspondent, noting that Major-General Rogers Nicholas has been appointed as his replacement.
Usman said, “It is true that a new commander has been appointed for Operation Lafiya Dole. I can confirm the appointment.”
