Yakubu Aiyegbeni has announced that he withdraws from professional football while celebrating his 35th birthday. Aiyegbeni was a free agent after Coventry City released earlier this year, but after signing for the new club, he decided to end his playing days. After moving for the first time in English football in January 2003, Aiyegbeni continued to enjoy a fine career with teams competing in the Premier League and Championship, with 367 appearances at all competitions. Aiyegbeni was represented by Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Reading and Coventry, and scored 141 goals in all seven clubs. Aiyegbeni also won 21 goals in 57 appearances for Nigeria.
