President Muhammad Buhari congratulated Mr. Zannah Mustapha on receiving the Nansen Refugee Award for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2017. President Bukhari thanked Mustafa for his international acknowledgment in a congratulatory letter issued by his special media advisor and promotion, Mr. Femi Adesina on Wednesday in Abuja. The Nigeria news agency (NAN) states that Mustafa is a lawyer dealing with humanitarian activities among internally displaced persons in the northeast.
Buhari believed that Mustapha had inspired many Nigerians as well as national and international humanitarian organisations for his outstanding works on education, peace, reconciliation and stability in the North-East of the country.
He noted that Mustapha earned the award because of his courage, hard work and extraordinary commitment to the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country, even at the risk of his life.
