The Iranian Court of Justice upheld on Sunday the five-year jail sentence issued by a Canadian-Iranian member of the nuclear negotiating team on charges of espionage.
"Mr. Abdolrasoul Dorri Esfahan ... was among some who were accused of spying and providing information to aliens and linked with two spy missions," Gollamhossein Mohseni Ejeie, a spokeswoman for justice, told reporters.
Some reports also said that Dorri Esfahan had British citizenship.
"The court sentenced him to five years in jail, and the verdict is final," Ejeie said.
"There is also a case of financial corruption for which a bail has been issued but there are no indictments yet".
Dorri Esfahan has a background in the banking sector and was a member of the supervisory board overseeing the implementation of the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the world powers in 2015.
By mid-2016, the conservative website and parliamentarians repeatedly accused Dorri Esfahan of spying on Britain.
That intelligence minister Mahmoud Alavi denied in October 2016, but the case remains open.
The ruling, which has been dominated by conservatives, has closed more dual citizens and foreigners since the nuclear attack agreement came into force, pointing to ongoing concern in parts of the institution about improving relations with the West.
Iran does not recognize dual citizens, which means they can not get diplomatic protection such as consular visits. ...
