Honda remembers more than 245,000 cars in China due to fears of airbags made by the turbulent Japanese giant Takata, the Chinese authorities on Sunday launched another strike at Takata's largest customer.
Japanese car maker and his Chinese joint venture Guangqi Honda will launch vehicles equipped with potentially defective airbags from October 23 and include the Accord, Fit, City, Crosstour and Everus S1 models.
Replace defective airbags for free.
Takata recalled about 100 million airbags made for some of the world's largest automobile manufacturers, including about 70 million in the US, due to the risk of incorrect inflation and tearing, which could potentially burn deadly shrapnel to vehicle passengers.
The problem was associated with a number of deaths and injuries throughout the world. There are no more than 20 million vehicles in China, most of which have already been revoked.
Last month, Honda reached a $ 605 million compensation fee in the lawsuit against faulty airbags in millions of US-based vehicles.
Honda has joined Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Mazda and Subaru when it comes to resolving disputes, replacing defective airbags from now-bankrupt Takata and replacing car owners.
More Honda cases, including Civic, Accord and CR-V, date back to 2001.
The airbag defect was associated with 16 deaths and the total number of injuries around the world, as safety devices can inflate excessively and send shrapnel from the inflator tank that moves towards the driver and passengers.
This problem has led to the largest automotive takeover in the history of about 100 million vehicles worldwide.
Takata in February begged for fraud to hide the defect and paid a fine of $ 1 billion.
The company filed a bankruptcy petition in June.
Bankruptcy could mean that major automakers could find that the airbag manufacturer would not pay for them, despite a $ 875 million fund created by Takata in January.
