The National Chairman of the United Progressives Party (UPP), Chekwas Okorie, claimed that current power under President Mohammad Bukhari was able to dive in Nigeria.
Okorie noticed that Bukhari did not use the 57th anniversary of independence as an opportunity to correct his false start.
According to the former presidential candidate, "Buhari started very badly by extraditing people, especially the people of the Southeast, for whom he claimed that they did not vote for him.
"Again, this is the middle of a four-year term, and I thought that his speech as an anniversary of independence would be reconcilable, encouraging, and inviting citizens to gather for a brighter future.
"Nigeria has been divided more than any time in recent history. From independence to today, Nigeria has not been divided as a result of the failure of the present leadership.
"But I believe there would be political consequences for this failure and will be reflected in the 2019 general election," he told New Telegraph.
Talking ahead, the older statesman explained that restructuring is a solution to current problems in the nation.
He added: "The way forward is to bring justice through Nigeria's restructuring, and all the good news is Nigerian.
"Even my party, the United Progressive Party (UPP), has undergone restructuring to emphasize self-determination to the extent that it is in our constitution, ratified by the National Convention.
"At any point in time, Nigeria will stop talking about restructuring and move to the next level, which is self-determination. At this point, we might say that to corporate Nigeria."
