Barack Obama Called For Jury Duty In Illinois

Barack Obama has fulfilled his civic duty as President. Now another role of citizen is coming: the jury's duty. Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans told county commissioners Friday that Obama was called to the jury next June in Illinois, CNL affiliate WLS quoted him as saying. Obama plans to serve as a jury, according to WLS. CNN has reached Evans and Obama's representative but has not heard back. The former president lives in Washington, but maintains a home in Chicago. With Harvard Law School degree, law-abiding experience, and eight years as chief commander, he is a fairly decent candidate for jury's office. Obama is not the first ex-president to receive a jury's notice. In the year 2015, former President George W. Bush reported for jury duties in Dallas courtroom. While Bush was not elected, he sat through the process and set up photos for other candidates. Participants in Illinois saw their share of politicians and celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey. In 2004, Winfrey was among the 12 jurors who served at the murder trial where the accused was convicted. Her experience as a jury was one of the worst she had ever had, she said later. Attorneys in Cook County pay $ 17.20 per day.
