Robot performs first ever dental surgery on human


The woman in China has recently become the first person to perform oral surgery exclusively using a robot.  Although the human doctors were in the room for the procedure, the robot independently installed two teeth in the mouth of the patient using pre-programmed instructions, according to the South China Morning Post.  Two new teeth, created by 3D printing, are successfully embedded in a woman's mouth. Technology was invented by Wuhan University Stomatological Hospital and Beihang. Dr. Zhao Yimin, who works in the hospital, told the newspapers that the robot was designed to conduct dental procedures and avoid mistakes in human chaos.  A University Robotic Institute that will deal with a lack of dentists in the country and frequent surgical errors. The robot was built to help address the lack of qualified dentists in China.  The post reported that about 400 million patients need new teeth in China.
