Puerto Rico was backing for potentially catastrophic floods on Thursday, after the devastating blast of Maria, who destroyed the island and crashed the entire net.
Hurricane, which Puerto Rico's Ricardo Rossello called "the most storm in the century," the island of 3.4 million people took off after falling early on the land with deadly winds and heavy rain.
The storm is indicted for ten deaths in the Caribbean, including a man in Bayamon, northern Puerto Rico, who died after killing the panel he used to cover the windows, told AFP spokeswoman Yennifer Alvarez.
Although the storm moved back to the sea, authorities warned on a pedestrian parade for the whole Puerto Rico on Thursday, as the "rains" continued to draw the island.
"If possible, go to the higher ground now!" Said the National San Diego Meteorological Service, calling for a "catastrophic" flood.
Puerto Rico is expected to receive rain from 20 to 30 centimeters (Saturday), with some isolated areas that have 35 centimeters, the US National Hurricane Center said.
Rain has turned some roads into US territory in muddy brown rivers.
About 5 am (0900 GMT), Maria was a third-tier storm on a five-point Saffir-Simpson scale with winds of 115 miles per hour (185 kilometers per hour). Through the Caribbean Sea was about 70 miles north of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
It was expected to travel north of the Dominican Republic on Thursday as it moved to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
