Press Freedom Under Attack From Trump – UN

#Nigeria The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid al-Hussein on Wednesday warned that US President Donald Trump's statements about journalists could amount to incitement and encourage followers to attack some sects. On August 22 during a rally in Arizona, Trump accused the media of being "really dishonest", "fake", "bad" and "crooked," as well as deepening divisions within the country. "I would also like to rely on the president's repeated attacks on three of the world's most respected news organizations, the New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN, repeatedly referring to organizations

"Recently in Arizona went to some extent to refer to journalists as" really, really dishonest people, bad people who do not like our country, "he said at a press conference." I think it can be up to incitement. " Hussein wondered whether the allegations were not "inciting others to attack journalists" and whether Trump would be held responsible if a reporter from one of these organizations was hurt.

It's really amazing when you think that freedom of the press, not just the cornerstone of the US Constitution, but often defended by the United States over the years, is now being attacked by the president," he said.

Since Trump took office, he has been involved in several major media outlets, calling him "false news" about reports about his alleged Kremlin relations, his approval ratings, and other issues.

More recently, Trump has criticized the "unconfirmed" media in the country for misrepresenting his
remarks, in which he condemned the activities of far-right groups after violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
